Preorder booking for Mini Asus Chromebox has started; shipping will start from 14 March.
A very few selected online retailers are providing the preorder facility for Asus’ miniature Chromebox.
Launched in February the Asus Chromebox is just 4.880-inches wide and 1.65-inches tall and runs on Google Chrome OS, making it the world’s smallest Chrome computer. As per the promise made by Asus that Chromebox would launch in March, online retailing giants like Amazon, Newegg and TigerDirect has already reserved the space to start booking the preorders.
Carrying a price tag of $179 the Asus Chromebox also includes 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and display ports for viewing content, an SD card reader, an Intel Haswell processor, 2GB or 4GB of memory, and integrated Intel HD graphics.
The Chromebox will be available in i3 and i7 versions. Though, the Core i7 version is limited to certain regions.
A 4K UDH playback feature is also available in the Intel i3 version of the Asus Chromebox. This feature would allow it to serve as an idea Netflix media streamer. The users can buy it today, and expect it to ship out on 14 March. The company earlier confirmed that peripherals like keyboard and mouse are not bundled into the $179 deal offered by Asus, but will eventually come with a more expensive package.
