Asus confirmed the unveiling its Android Wear smartwatch at the IFA next month

Just a few days back we highlighted the report that Asus is preparing to launch an Android Wear based smartwatch. Today Asus has officially confirmed the report via a teaser tweet showing a smartwatch face displaying the quote “Time has been transformed and we have changed”.

Asus has also mentioned the date of September 3rd which is the IFA event in Berlin starting off next month. The rumor for Android Wear smartwatch from Asus was reported back in June, and news that the IFA will be the launching event came few days back.

From the image mentioned in the tweet we can say that the Asus smartwatch will feature a square or rectangular design, just like the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live.

According to ASUS CEO Jerry Shen, “the watch looks better than competitors’ products, but comes with a relatively low price tag.”

It is worth mentioning that the Asus smartwatch will be available between $99 to $149 price range, which the company is hoping will enable it to succeed in a market where one influential analyst has said that only Samsung and Apple will prevail.

Yesterday it was reported that LG will be unveiling the G Watch 2 at IFA replacing the IPS display with AMOLED, so there is no doubt that Asus will have tough competition right off the bat.

Now let’s wait for the IFA, where the competition will begin.
