Guragon Based Nearify Raises Seed Funding

Events discovery app Nearify secured an unrevealed amount in seed funding from India Quotient and Seedfund Advisors, with participation from seed and early-stage investor Bedrock Ventures.

“We will utilise these funds by enhancing our existing product portfolio. Nearify is planning to launch more products in this year. Besides, with the existing headcount of less than 10, the company intends to strengthen its workforce by adding more number of employees,” Saurav Singh, Co-Founder, Nearify told Entrepreneur India.

Nearify collects information on a large set of events such as concerts, music festivals, parties, workshops, shows, meet-ups and makes the list available to users on a user-friendly platform.

A user can plan his/ her evening by just typing in the requirements on the app The keyword based search allows a user to set search radius, set a date range, select categories and sort results based on distance, relevance or date while the results displayed show other information like the time, address and number of attendees to the event.

The startup was founded in December 2012 by three IIT Kanpur alumni—Mayank Kumar, Saurav Singh and Vivek Srivastava. Nearify collates information on a large set of events such as concerts, music festivals, parties, workshops, shows, meet-ups and makes the list available to users on a user-friendly platform. The service is currently available on Android, iPhone, iPad and also on the web.

The app uses technology to aggregate data related to events from the web, which goes through a proprietary data processing engine for quality and significance. It then collates that events’ data into a common format for users to consume. The startup currently claims to list Facebook events, eventful events, eventbrite events, meetup events, active events, bookmyshow events among others.

Competition: Online event ticketing and registration platform Explara had expanded to five new countries. Other competitors in the event aggregation field include Eventbrite which focuses on small and medium events and TicketMaster which focuses on big events like live concerts.
