A new report claims that Micromax is in works to launch a smartphone running CyanogenMod as early as the end of the year.
The report has come from The Information, which reveals that Cyanogen and Micromax have agreed upon a deal to release a CyanogenMod-powered handset.
Some reports also claimed that Google showed interest in Cyanogen and wanted it to be the part of Android’s stock team, but Cyanogen, but the deal was turned down by Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster.
Cyanogen want to raise more funds, and expressing the same Kirt said, the company is more focused on obtaining its third round of funding that took it to a $1 billion valuation – “despite barely generating any revenue.”
Cyanogen is becoming more popular and has already teamed up with Chinese smartphone makers Oppo and OnePlus One. Other information, like the price and release date of the CyanogenMod Micromax smartphone is still unknown.
Micromax has also partnered with Google for its Android One program to launch high quality affordable smartphones in the developing economies.
