HTC has launched the Desire Eye, a smartphone featuring the most powerful front-facing camera for selfie lovers. It’s a mid-range smartphone, but features some specs identical to HTC One M8.
It features a 5.2-inch full-HD LCD display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It holds 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (upto 128GB) and packs a 2400mAh Li-Po battery.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear cameras capable of shooting [email protected] videos, while also houses a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, which is one of the main eye-catching feature of the smartphone.
Both cameras are accompanied by dual-LED flash and can shoot [email protected] videos. The HTC Desire Eye runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and holds an IPX7 rating, making the smartphone water resistance up to 1 metre for 30 minutes.
The HTC Desire Eye comes pre-loaded with two camera centric apps namely Eye Experience and the latest version of HTC Zoe, a video editing tool.
The handset also sports front-facing stereo speakers powered by HTC Boomsound technology and measures in at 151.7×73.8×8.5mm.
HTC will soon roll-out the Eye Experience to other handsets including HTC One (M7), HTC One (M8), HTC One (E8), HTC One mini, HTC One mini 2, HTC One Remix, HTC One Max, HTC Desire 612, and HTC Desire 816.
Currently, no pricing and availability details are mentioned and the HTC Desire Eye is AT&T-exclusive, but the handset is estimated for £300-400.
