Asus ZenWatch Review

Taiwanese technology firm Asus displayed Android Wear ZenWatch in India for the first time at an event on Friday at New Delhi. The firm is now aiming to launch the watch in India in the first quarter of 2015.

It has a 1.63-inch AMOLED screen equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. At 320×320 resolution it show offs a solid pixel density of 278 ppi. The screen has a slight curve to it, and your finger just glides across it while swiping or scrolling, making it feel a lot better and more natural to interact with.

The internals include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 SoC and 512MB RAM. 4GB of internal storage are there should you need it, but most content will be access over a wireless bridge with your Android smartphone.

The ZenWatch, which is also Asus’ first wearable device, sports a curved display, leather watchband and a quick-release clasp design. This device pairs with a smartphone running Android 4.3 or higher. The ZenWatch is water resistant but not waterproof. It has 369mAh battery.

The companion Asus ZenUI Wellness app allows users monitor and track a range of wellness statistics including steps taken, calories burned, activity duration, heart rate, exercise intensity and relaxation level.

The brown leather of the band blends impeccably into the body of the watch thanks to the classy yet subtle addition of a band of copper-colored metal sandwiched between the silver halves of the ZenWatch’s stainless steel case.

There’s also 100 dissimilar clock faces to choose from to make sure the watch is almost as distinctive as its owner. Asus is also one of the vendors to play the health card with a fully featured wellness manager that track a number of statistics like calories burned, steps clocked, activity duration, etc.
