Telltale Games announced that it has joined hands with developer Mojang to create Minecraft: Story Mode, an episodic game series that will be released sometime in 2015 that’s based on Mojang’s well-liked sandbox game.
“Minecraft: Story Mode will be released episodically, just like The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, or the recent Tales from the Borderlands, which is another developer-collaboration series between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software.”
Telltale Games, admired for works including The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, knows how to create captivating story-driven point-and-click games. This new series will be based on the world of Minecraft, but it will stand alone as a separate title. The episodic game will trait an original story starring new characters created just for this escapade. Telltale’s game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, stirred by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to motivate a generation.
Telltale Games states: “Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices. Telltale’s game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”
Due out sometime in 2015, it will be released in episodes, just like every other Telltale title and will be available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices. You can refer to its blog.
Telltale has two episodic games, also based on established media franchises, that have recently launched their first episodes: Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands.
