Hyperlocal online grocery platform, Grofers currently on strategic expansion sprees has consolidating it’s market position further has acquired Delhi based mobile-app-based grocery delivery platform MyGreenBox. The startup is offering its quality services to users in ordering their groceries, bakery items and others. The step is going to help it in its announced expansion plan of entering to capital region after Haryana. The region already offers immense business opportunity in its sprawling population.
It had recently raised A funding $10mn from Sequoia and Tiger which operate in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore with multiple categories where users can order groceries products. This had helped it to raise its total funding to 10.5 millions.
The acquisition is likely to help Grofers bring onboard the MyGreenBox onto the Grofers market. Ashneer Grovers, CFO, Grofers says,“The acquisition of MyGreenBox is a vindication of the more nimble market place model of Grofers. The customers appreciate the 90 minutes service of Grofers and the fact that they can order so much more than groceries on our app, web browser and even on twitter.”
With this acquisition, it is expected to grow their user base and add more categories. It was founded by Saurabh Kumar and Albinder Dhindsa in Gurgaon. Presently, its team comprises 250 vendors, processing 30,000 deliveries per month including mobile app users. Last year, it had employed 140 delivery boys. It was catering to 3000 order on weekly basis.
With this app acquisition it is all set to foray into the capitals consumer market in big way. MyGreenBox according to retail market reports, the step is well strategic move and is timely also. Understanding the need of retail segment’s delivery it has joined hands with qualified and skilled hands.
With its existing user base, it has announced its arrival in NCR also. This is great move to bring its all quality help to NCR users also. They are going to get the best help and user data from this acquisition also. It s already announced Android app Grofers on-demand had 5000 downloads. Its 200 workers are handling on field deliveries.
It had started as pharmacy shops, bakeries, restaurants, fresh produce and later focusing on selective key regions. Presently, it is facing competition from other startup like Delyver and Yumist. It is also working on its plans to expand service reach to Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai.
