Wassup attracts $2m from Jabong founders

Wassup on demand convenience brand co-founded by  Balachandar R and Durga Das said that it has received $2m in pre-series A funding from Arun Chandra Mohan and Praveen Sinha the Jabong  co-founders and Micky Watwani angel investor.

It is presently focusing on Middle class Indian. They offer their services like dry cleaning, laundry, shoe and bag refurbishment in three cities. It has 30 pickup points will be known as aggregating hubs where the garments could be dropped off by the customer. Thirty more hubs will be included in coming six months. It has vision to cover 100 cities with customer base of one million in coming three years.

Durga Das,  co-founder and MD, Wassup  having 20 years of silicon valley experience said, “Technology is going to be the true enabler which will foster customer delight. We have built a technology platform that integrates the consumer app, point of sale, tagging and tracking system and the CRM solution. Additionally we are adding analytics, a marketing performance platform and an efficient logistics management to ensure the customer gets an unrivaled experience in convenience. Mobile is going to be central to our tech development.”

At present, the on –demand convenience industry is valued at 9 billion USD.  The laundry market has estimated to be valued at INR 200,000 crores annually and out this 95 % comes from unrecognized market.

Wassup using this new support will continue to offer on demand expediency services  and ill enhance their focus on marketing and  customer acquisition  activities in Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi and have recently added Cochin and Pune to it.   Das Star venture has seed funded it.
