We already know about Zomato and its service, which helps people find the best food outlets around us by providing pictures and menu of the food outlets. Just like that, finding the best beauty salons, spas, makeup artists, skin centres, and gyms around us is also a very tough task. So, with an aim to bring information of these services at your fingertip, Mr. Kamal Gulati, started the service called ‘The Makeoverz‘ which is an online directory to the beauty Salons, Spas, Makeup Artists, Skin Centres, Gyms, Fitness Studios and Personal Trainers & Dietitians in Delhi NCR.
So, lets see what exactly ‘The Makeoverz’ is and what it has to offer.

What exactly is “The Makeoverz”?
The Makeoverz, is an online directory to the Salons, Spas, Makeup Artists, Skin Centres, Gyms, Fitness Studios and Personal Trainers & Dieticians in Delhi NCR. The startup provides customers a chance to know some very essential but basic information about their clients, so they can get a chance to express their views and provide ratings, so that their experience is pleasant from the very first step to the last.
The company provide unbiased information, actual pictures, rate lists and offers. They have around 2000 vendors listed on their website.
How he started
It was November 2013, when got to read extensively about Zomato and its success, and how the company reached great heights, just by providing the pictures and menu of the food outlets around us, and he found that Beauty & Fitness was the industry which lacked information. So an idea struck his mind and he just thought that how convenient it would be for people if somebody could just provide the information like Rate List & Pictures about Salon, Spa & Gym.
After this Kamal spoke to some of his friend and he told them about his new idea. His friends liked the idea and they told him that a portal like this should exist. After this, he visited a couple of salons with a friend and told them that they wanted information about their salon to list them on his website. Some of the salon owners liked the idea and were excited to get featured on the website. For him this research was enough to work on it.
Initial days for The Makeoverz
On January 7, 2014, he appointed a Business Development Manager who worked from home for him. They made a plan of collecting data by approaching high end brands first. As data from all these brands helps them to attract interests of other brands. They got their website created through a company (On Birthday of his BDM). Their website had 250-300 listings of Salon, Spa & Gym.

After launching his website Kamal had to update the data on the website, so he hired some interns but it didn’t work out, then he out sourced it to a company who helped him in collecting the data. After all of this Kamal started working day and night to upload the data on his website. It was a lot of work for a single person.
Then once again he hired an intern for a month to update the data. After this, makeup artist started to approach him and he realized that there are people who do not have their own studios but are freelancers seeking a platform like this to get recognition and work. Then he thought of making Skin Centers as a separate category. Fitness Studios came out of Gyms and Trainers & Dietitians were added distinctly.
He expanded his categories to 7 because 7 was his lucky number and now it has Salon, Spa, Skin Centers, Makeup Artists, Gym, Fitness Studios, and Trainers & Dietitians.
Funding of websites
It was around October and November of 2014, when he got to read a lot about many companies who had started getting funding. That was the time he got to know about funding of websites. For him ,there was no scope of going down any further so he had to get up, dust himself off and rise. He made this part time work, his full time job in January 2015. With more zeal and enthusiasm , He worked on it, created a team which could make his dream as theirs and prove it to every body. Things started to get better.
From January 2015 to August 2015, their daily users grew from 60 to 500. Their websites Alexa ranking (India) was 75,000 in July 2015 and it is around 20,000 today
Summarizing his journey
It was a team of people with just one dream, to make their Makeoverz touch the sky. Getting onto that “literally” they got their Makeoverz Kites printed and distributed them for free on August 15th. Looking at their brand name touch the sky, they realised, that when you have faith in yourself, nobody can stop you.
