Lenovo has added a new smartphone to its Vibe-series with the launch of Vibe S1 smartphone in India. The Vibe S1 comes with some impressive specs, but the highlight of the smartphone are its dual front cameras which makes it the world’s first smartphone with dual front cameras.
The Lenovo Vibe S1 smartphone in India has been launched at Rs. 15,999.
The smartphone was first unveiled in September during the IFA 2015 trade show in Berlin, along with the Lenovo Vibe P1 and Lenovo Vibe P1m smartphones.
Specifications of Lenovo Vibe S1
The Lenovo Vibe S1 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with Lenovo’s not so appealing Vibe UI on top. It features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920) display and is powered by a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM.
At rear there is a 13-megapixel shooter, and as mentioned above there are dual-front cameras: 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel. Talking about the camera the company said, “The 8-megapixel primary front camera takes the sharpest photos and a 2-megapixel secondary front camera analyses depth of field information.”
The Vibe S1 comes with 32GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage via microSD (up to 128GB). It also supports 4G LTE connectivity and packs a 2500mAh battery.
Features of Lenovo Vibe S1
Premium Design: The company has not only focused on technical specifications, but has also worked on the overall design of the Vibe S1 so that it can compete with other mid-range handsets in the market. It has a nice aluminum frame with diamond-cut chamfered edges. The smartphone measures 7.8mm thick and weighs 132 grams.
Dual front-cameras: The Vibe S1 sports dual-selfie cameras. One is an 8-megapixel unit for capturing selfies and a 2-megapixel sensor for capturing depth information. The front-facing cameras are equipped with couple of features such as Blur, which allows refocusing anywhere on the selfie (up to 3 focal plains), and Cut Out, which allows users to cut out people from a selfie and then superimpose them on another image.
Internal Storage: The smartphone offers 32GB of internal storage, which very few handsets in the sub Rs 16,000 range comes with. Out of 32GB, users get only 24GB which I think is enough for installing apps and for storing music, videos and images. If a user requires more storage then there is a microSD card slot to expand the storage up to 128GB.
Lenovo Custom UI: The Vibe S1 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with company’s custom UI running on top. The UI allow users to wake up the display with double tap, to control the display’s color saturation and they can also switch to floating video player.
The smartphone will be available exclusively via e-commerce major Amazon.in from 24th November.
