Coleco to launch its new cartridge-based console in 2016

Coleco gaming company, which is known for its retro video gaming consoles has announced a new partnership with Retro Video Game Systems to launch it’s another cartridge-based console in 2016. The console would be called as Coleco Chameleon.

With this new announcement Coleco confirmed that the company re-interning into the game console industry again. The company said that the new console will serve as a “versatile, modern-day video-game system.” And “accurately play classic games.” that also includes new 8-, 16-, and 32-bit games, all in the spirit of the “golden age of gaming.”

According to Mike Kennedy, President Retro Video Game Systems, Inc. The COLECO Chameleon is a love-letter to all the classic cartridge based gaming systems that came before it and we love the fact it will succeed COLECO’s successful Telstar and Colecovision product lines. It will take gamers and their families back to a simpler time where games were all about great gameplay and fun factor.

Coleco said that the new cartridge based game console will be more durable, affordable and will include “high-quality plastic clamshell cases” with instruction manuals and developer notes.

The company hasn’t revealed any pricing details yet, but one if its developer tweeted “It will be significantly more affordable than the first go-around.”

The Coleco Chameleon game console will be available in early 2016 and will also be showcased at the Toy Fair New York in February 2016.
