Le Max Pro – The first smartphone to feature Snapdragon 820 chipset

Finally, we come to know the handset that will be housing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset. Chinese brand Letv’s Le Max Pro is the first smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The announcement was made at the CES 2016 trade show by Qualcomm chief executive Steven Mollenkopf. He said that the Le Max Pro will not enjoy the benefit of the 820’s faster processor and graphics prowess, but will also picks up some of Qualcomm’s other technology like WiFi 802.11ad.

Currently, the Snapdragon 820 is the Qualcomm’s flagship chip, but couple of others in the pipeline include the 820A and 820Am chips, optimized for automobile applications. So Qualcomm is trying to establish its presence not only in the mobile device market, but also in the automotive, smart cities, wearables, networking, smart homes, data centers and healthcare sectors.

To recall, in April 2015, Letv launched three near bezel-less display smartphones in China – the Le 1, Le 1 Pro and the Le Max
