Samsung has recently announced a new camera at MWC 2016 called Gear 360. This camera will produce high-quality 360-degree videos and photos that can be viewed on Samsung’s Gear VR headset.
The Gear 360 is highly compact, slightly smaller than a tennis ball and weighing in at only 153 grams, less than the Galaxy S7. Despite its size, the Gear 360 has the capability to expand up to 128 GB of storage and 140 minutes of active use. There will also be built in microphones, and a pair of fisheye F2.0 lenses that can capture near-4k quality video or 30 megapixel photos.
As of right now, the Gear 360 is meant to be used as a stationary device and not as an action cam; however, it can be set on a table, attached to a drone, or attached to a tripod that comes with the camera.
As of right now, there is no release date for the Gear 360, but Samsung has specified that it will be available in Q2 2016.
