Facebook to bring live video broadcasting to Android users

Facebook’s Android users will soon be able to avail live video features. The company made this announcement here. According to FB, the rollout would initially be based in US and more countries will be joining soon !!

It had introduced its services in last summer and was being used by celebrities only. It was available for all users of Facebook iOS app in US in January and the social network stated that iOS users in over 30 countries will now be having an access to it.

With its 1.5 billion monthly active users, Facebook has novel set demanded by all aspiring mobile video startups. However, this does not guarantee startup’s success at all. Facebook will be known for number of things which hone its appeal around specific feature. It may not be best social network for breaking or instantaneous events like live video  and news.

‘Going live’ on Facebook requires friends to instantly join stream for it to be effective or fun for users. This may not be  call to action  that all Facebook users  will be accustomed to make.

Facebook has attention of each celebrity which worth it as it connects them to millions of fans. Comedian Ricky Gervais has around four million Facebook fans and have praised live video which enables direct interaction with fans and other audiences without filter or media agenda. It is to be seen  that Facebook can deliver on this front for regular layman people.
