Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently announced that it will be opening a new data center Region in the Paris metropolitan area in 2017.
This will be the Amazon subsidiary’s fourth Region in Europe, after the current EU (Ireland), the current EU (Frankfurt), and the planned Region in the UK expected to, according to the AWS blog, “launch in the coming months.”
Since 2006, AWS has been expanding its data center infrastructure. This continued construction of Regions will help organizations meet local regulations regarding data storage. For users, it will make data and application access faster and cheaper.
The new Parisian Region will join the 13 existing Regions all across the world, and AWS expects its 5 planned regions in China, Ohio, Canada, the United Kingdom, and France to come online throughout the next year.
